The Rangel Fellowship provides up to $84,000 for a two-year master’s degree, two paid internships in the U.S. Congress and a U.S. Embassy or Consulate abroad, and opportunities for mentoring and professional development toward a career in the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service.
In the Office of Scholar Development at WKU, we mentor students applying for national scholarships to fund “academic extras” beyond what tuition covers. Our goal is to make more possible for students by increasing access to study abroad, research, professional experience, and more.
Ralphy has worked with us since his first semester. He earned a Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Morocco, and he was named a semi-finalist for the Critical Language Scholarship. Both of these scholarships are pursued by thousands of students each year.
His latest win, the Rangel Fellowship, is especially competitive. Ralphy has not only secured a generously funded master’s degree, but also placement in the U.S. Department of State’s Foreign Service. This win is the result of Ralphy’s resourcefulness, determination, and open-mindedness about what the future might bring.
